OOU is a state-owned university. It is located in Ago-Iwoye. The school was founded in 1982 as Ogun State University. In 2001, it got its present name.

As a public university, Olabisi Onabanjo University offers admission to candidates from any part of the country and perhaps, the world. Currently, the school enrolls over 50,000 students.
