Federal University of Gusau, Zamfara State is the only university in Zamfara State. It was established on the 18th February, 2013 and they began their academic year 2014/2015 session.

FUGUS is one of the 12 universities established by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, in states where there were no federal universities.

Since its establishment, the Federal University of Gusau has been improving in impacting their students with quality education and innovation. The University had started its academic activities with pre-science and three faculties:

  • Faculty of humanities and Education
  • Faculty of management and social science
  • Faculty of Science

On the 16th December, 2019 the school management released a memo, announcing the addition of 3 new faculties:

  • Faculty of Agriculture
  • Faculty of pharmacy
  • Faculty of engineering

The school, moreover intends to expand their own programmes like M.Sc and PhD, as the years go by.

The aim of this institution is to be a renowned, outstanding University, dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, service and the protection of truth and the liberty of man.

How can I get admission in FUGUS?

Several people had asked this question and I could only tell you this:

There is no other way to success except by working hard and being determined. The school’s cut off mark is as low as 160 and candidates are expected to score more than that.

Moreover, there are requirements to be qualified enough to be admitted into the school.

What are the requirements needed for admission in FUGUS?

  • Candidates must at least have 5 credits in their O’level result, of which Mathematics and English must be included, and other 3 relevant subjects concerning the course you want to study.
  • Candidates must score up to 160 and above to be eligible to apply for their post UTME
  • Candidates must prepare for their post UTME to gain more chances of gaining admission into the school.
  • You are required to do proper JAMB subject combination in order to arrive at your dream department.

Does FUGUS accept Second Choice?

Most universities in Nigeria do not accept second choice as no one prefers to be a substitute, you are either in or out

But does it apply to FUGUS?
