Briefly About the University
Ignatius Ajuru University is one out of the 41 state-owned universities in Nigeria. It was established in 2009 during the regime of Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of River State.
What we now know as Ignatius Ajuru University first started in 1971 as an advanced teacher training college.
This was done after the Nigerian civil war, to remedy the lack of qualified primary and secondary school teachers in the war-ravaged society.
Today, IAUE (as it is known in the short) has grown to a University offering both undergraduate and graduate degree studies.
