Admission Guidelines

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) provides a considerable atmosphere for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Candidates interested in the institution must have all the requirements before they will be admitted.

Undergraduate Requirements

  • Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Additional requirements may apply for some programmes. But you will get to know after you’ve chosen a programme.

Postgraduate Requirements

  • Every candidate must have at least five (5) credit O’Level passes including English Language and Mathematics. Some programmes accept at least a pass in Mathematics.
  • Candidates for PGD must have either a minimum of pass Bachelors Degree in any discipline from a recognised university, OR a HND with a minimum of Lower Credit.
  • Candidates with professional qualifications such as ACA, ACIS, ACIB, ACII, ACIA, etc may be considered on individual merit for PGD in Business and Human Resources Management.
  • For Master degree programmes, candidates must have either a Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 2’2 in the relevant field of study from a recognised university.
  • Candidates with a lower classification, having a minimum of 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience may be considered for M.Sc on individual merit.
  • Applicants with lower qualifications and a PGD in related field of study from a recognised university, OR a HND with a minimum of Upper Credit in the relevant field of study are eligible for Masters.
  • Candidates with membership certificate of relevant professional bodies may apply for the Master of Business (MBA) programme.
  • PhD candidates must have a Masters degree in relevant field of study from a recognised University, with a minimum score average of 60% or a CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale.

How to Apply

Kindly follow these steps to apply for either undergraduate or postgraduate programme at NOUN.

  • Enter www.nouonline.net
  • On the Menu Bar, click on “Apply for Admission
  • Select either Undergraduate Programme or Postgraduate Programme depending on which you want to apply.
  • From the left hand side of the page click “Choose Faculty
  • Select your proposed Faculty
  • Fill the form and click the button below to view the admission criteria.
  • To proceed, click “Apply

NB: Take note of the UNIQUE ID displayed.

  • Click ‘Continue‘ button and proceed to payment.
  • Choose your Bank Branch as payment type and click “Pay” afterwards.
  • After your payment invoice is generated, take your RRR number to any bank branch for payment.
  • After payment, go back to the website and perform the same actions as in 1 – 3.
  • Now, click “Continue After Payment
  • Enter your Unique ID, RRR code and Programme and click “Proceed“.
  • Fill the form diligently.
  • To finish, click “Submit”.
  • Go ahead and print your Admission Letter.
  • Finally, visit the nearest study centre for screening.
