School Fees


Fresh undergraduate students of University of Maiduguri, Borno pay N33, 000 as their school fee.

On the other hand, returning students pay N18, 000.

These fees are relatively low because federal universities in Nigeria do not collect tuition fees; the federal government has taken care of that, as a matter of fact.

The school fees of the postgraduate students of UNIMAID ranges from N92, 000 to N160, 000 depending on the programme.

UNIMAID Admission Guidelines


You can gain admission into University of Maiduguri either through UTME as a 100 level student, or Direct Entry as a 200/300 student.

For either case, you must meet the minimum admission requirements:


  • Applicants less than 16 years of age will not be admitted.
  • Candidates must have at least five (5) credits in relevant subjects including Mathematics and English in SSCE, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings are eligible.
  • UTME candidates must score up to the UNIMAID cut-off mark.
  • DE candidates who have two A’Level passes in relevant subjects are eligible.
  • Candidates with NCE, OND or HND are also eligible for DE.

The application for either UTME or DE modes of admission begin from buying the JAMB form and JAMB Direct Entry respectively.

You are also required to purchase and seat for the University’s post-UTME exercise, or buy the school Direct Entry form when the sale begins.


The postgraduate programmes offered at University of Maiduguri includes Postgraduate Diploma, Masters Degree and Doctorate Degree.

Candidates seeking admission into any of these programmes must meet the following respective requirements.


  • PhD candidates must be holders of Masters degree from recognised universities, and with a CGPA of at least 4.0 on 5.0 scale, or 3.0 on 4.0 scale.
  • Masters degree applicants can have a first class, or second class (lower or upper division) from any recognised university.
  • Masters candidates who possess Third class must also have a suitable PGD.
  • Applicants for Postgraduate diploma must be graduates of a recognised university, or holders of HND of at least lower credit, obtained from a recognised institution.
